Solid State Lasers by Walter Koechner,

Solid State Lasers by Walter Koechner,
Solid-state lasers have seen a fast solid state laser and steady development solid state laser and are the ubiquitous tool both for research solid state laser and industrial applications. The author's monograph Solid-State Lasers  has become the most-used reference book in this area. The present graduate text on solid-state lasers takes advantage of this rich source by focusing on the needs at the graduate level solid state laser and those who need an introduction. Numerous exercises with hints for solution, new text solid state laser and updated material where needed make this text very accessible.

Solid-State Random Lasers: With 131 Figures

Solid-State Random Lasers: With 131 Figures
Random lasers are the simplest sources of stimulated emission without cavity, with the feedback provided by scattering in a gain medium. First proposed in the late 1960s, random lasers have grown to a large research field. This book reviews the history solid state laser and the state of the art of random lasers, provides an outline of the basic models describing their behavior, solid state laser and describes the recent advances in the field. The major focus of the book is on solid-state random lasers. However, it also briefly describes random lasers based on liquid dyes with scatterers. The chapters of the book are almost independent of each other. So, the scientists or engineers interested in any particular aspect of random lasers can read directly the relevant section. Researchers entering the field of random lasers will find in the book an overview of the field of study. Scientists working in the field can use the book as a reference source.

Solid-state laser - A solid-state laser is a laser that uses a gain medium that is a solid, rather than a liquid such as dye lasers or a gas such as gas lasers. Semiconductor-based lasers are also in the solid state, but are generally considered separately from solid-state lasers (see semiconductor laser).

Diode pumped solid state laser - Diode pumped solid state (DPSS) lasers are solid-state lasers made by pumping a solid gain medium, for example, a ruby or a neodymium-doped YAG crystal, with a laser diode.

Quantum cascade laser - The quantum cascade laser or QC laser is a unipolar solid state laser which uses electrons as its only charge carrier. The "cascade" is a series of equal energy steps built into the material matrix while the crystal is being grown.

Dye laser - A dye laser is a laser that uses an organic dye as a lasing medium, usually as a liquid solution. Compared to gases and most solid-state lasing media, a dye can usually be used for a much wider range of wavelengths.
